Rebels Finish Ninth At Conference Meet

LAS VEGAS ( - The Rebel cross country team finished ninth overall with 278 total points in the women's 6K at the 2012 Mountain West Cross Country Championships held at the Silver Bowl Sports Complex in Las Vegas on Friday morning. UNLV's Lauren Petersen finished the women's race in 47th place with a final time of 23:08.85.

New Mexico's women's team won its sixth consecutive championship title behind a team score of 35 points. The Lobos were paced by a quintet of runners that finished 14th or better. In fact, the Cherry & Silver had the top-two finishers: Lacy Oeding (20:49.96) and Charlotte Arter (20:51.62).

Besides Petersen, four other runners scored for UNLV, and they were Corey Honeycutt (54th/23:37.40), Amanda Berg (58th/24:01.19), Auzsane Crowe-Carter (59th/24:06.13) and Courtney Allen (60th/24:23.62). Katie Cochran (61st/24:27.52) and Sara Williams (62nd/24:34.25) also ran for UNLV on Friday.

On the men's side, the New Mexico men claimed its fifth straight title.
