The honors keep coming for the University of Wyoming cross country program, as it was announced Wednesday that the UW men had earned Division I All-Academic Cross Country status by the USTFCCCA.

There are more than 300 Div. I men's cross country programs in the nation, but just 147 institutions were named to the list. Seven of the top-10 teams at the 2011 NCAA Cross Country Championships earned All-Academic status. Of the 31 teams that participated in the national meet, 20 of those earned All-Academic status.

Wyoming's men earned the fifth-highest team GPA (3.57) on the list. Fellow Mountain West member Colorado State was the only other Mountain West team honored.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship. The UW women also earned the honor for this season's work.

"This is another quality achievement by our men's cross country team," Wyoming cross country coach Randy Cole said. "This group definitely takes its studies seriously. They are very organized and manage their training and studying very well. We are very proud of this team."
