FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State had five student-athletes named to the 2012 Division I men’s and women's all-academic track & field teams, the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced this week.

CSU is represented on the list by Kendra Gerk, Kaitlin Hanenburg, Kiah Hicks, Hannah Pensack-Reinhart and Nicole Peters. The Rams are returning thrower Hicks, along with distance runners Hanenburg and Pensack-Reinhart, while Gerk and Peters graduated this past spring.

A total 676 female student-athletes composed the 2012 all-academic team, including 17 female athletes from six MW schools.

The USTFCCCA honors Division I individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I championships (including preliminary rounds).

All-academic status
The USTFCCCA also announced the 2012 Division I All-Academic Track & Field Teams with a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better. Both the CSU men’s and women’s teams made the list. The men had a cumulative GPA of 3.02 and the women combined for a GPA of 3.14.

The Mountain West had a total of five women’s teams that made the list, while on the men’s side CSU and Wyoming were the only teams to receive recognition.
