Mountain West Announces Cross Country Athletes of the Week - September 11, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State junior Jeff Howard and Fresno State sophomore Lyndsie Etherton have earned Mountain West Men's and Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors, respectively, for races contested from Sept. 3-9, 2012. It is the first Mountain West career honor for Howard and Etherton.
Howard, a native of Spokane, Wash., placed second at the Northwest Nazarene Roger Curran Memorial Invitational in Nampa, Idaho. He covered the 6-kilometer course in a career-best time of 18:39.23. The top Bronco finisher at the meet, Howard led BSU to the team title, as seven Bronco runners placed among the top 15 finishers.
A Fresno, Calif., native, Etherton won the Sacramento State Hornet Jamboree in Sacramento, Calif. She ran a time of 17:13.7 over the 5-kilometer race, the best time of her cross country career at that distance. The mark tied her for second on the Fresno State career-best list in the 5K.
