FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Seattle, Wash. this weekend as they get set to compete in Sundodger Invitational at Lincoln Park, Sept. 15, hosted by the University of Washington. Lincoln Park starts and finishes on a grass playing field, while the rest of the course is a mixture of grass, dirt, light gravel and bark chips. The women's 6K will get underway at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8K at 11:35 a.m.
Last time out, the men's and women's teams both rebounded in grand fashion, highlighted by Lyndsie Etherton leading the women's team to capturing first-place, while racing to a first-place finish individually. Etherton timed in at 17:13.7 at the Aggie Open 5K, a time which was a personal best, it also tied for the second-fastest 5K in the Fresno State record books. Etherton was later garnered with Mounatin West Women's Athelete of the Week honors for her performance.
The men's team placed second at the Aggie Open behind solid efforts from Danny Vartanian and Olivier Bernard. The two placed seventh and eight individually, crossing the finish line within a tenth of a second of each other in the 6K race. Vartanian came in at 19:56.1, while Bernard timed in at 19:56.2.
Race weather is predicted to be partly cloudy on Saturday, with highs in the lower 70's and lows in the mid 50's.
