Nevada Cross Country Heads to NCAA Mountain Region Championship

The University of Nevada cross country team will travel to Ft. Collins, Colo. to compete for the NCAA Mountain Regional Championship at Collindale golf course Friday. The meet is hosted by Colorado State.
“Our team has had some excellent training sessions in the latter half of the season,” head coach Kirk Elias said. “I am excited about the NCAA Mountain Regional. They are ready to run well. It should be a fun race for our team.”
The Mountain region consists of teams from the Mountain West, Western Athletic, Big Sky, Pac-12, Great West, West Coast, and Big 12 conferences. The women’s 6,000 meter race will begin at 12 p.m. MT to compete for spots in the NCAA Cross Country Championships that will be held on Nov. 17.
Nevada recently finished fifth at the Mountain West Conference championships after being ranked eighth in the preseason conference poll. Sam Diaz had a school-record performance at the MW championships, finishing in seventh place. The Wolf Pack is ranked 13th in the Mountain region.
