Nine Mountain West Cross Country Runners Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West had nine student-athletes earn All-Region honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. Athletes of NCAA Division I institutions that finished in the Top 25 individually at one of the nine NCAA Regional Championship sites last Friday earned the distinction.

On the men's side, four members of the New Mexico squad received All-Region honors, while five women from two Conference institutions earned the accolades.

Two Mountain West teams will represent the league at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 17 in Louisville, Ky. The UNM women's team earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship after placing second at the Mountain Regional in Fort Collins, Colo. The Lobo men received an at-large bid after finishing fourth at the Mountain Regional. The women's 6-kilometer race will begin at 12 p.m. ET, followed by the men's 10K race at 1:15 p.m. ET. Both races will be streamed live on NCAA.com from E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
