CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas ( – The UNLV baseball team dropped its opening game at the 2012 Kleberg Bank College Classic, falling to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-1 here tonight at Whataburger Field.

The Islanders (5-1) got on the board in the bottom of the first after Bobby Buckner roped a two-out triple down the right-field line and scored one batter later on Kyle Danford’s RBI single up the middle.

Texas A&M-C.C starter Adam Hoelscher (2-0) kept the Rebels in check, allowing just one hit over the first five innings.
