FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State baseball team knew it has an opportunity to make up some ground in the Mountain West race with five conference games at Beiden Field this weekend and the Bulldogs made a Friday statement in beating Air Force 9-4 and 8-5 in the first of two doubleheaders.

The wins move Fresno State (10-24, 5-10 Mountain West) into fifth place in the MW standings while Air Force (10-25, 4-11 MW) drops to sixth.

Bulldogs' sophomore Jordan Brink, who entered the first game as a pinch hitter, slugged his way into the record books with two triples in the first game to tie the Mountain West and school single-game record for most triples in a game, and added his third of the day in the nightcap.

Brink finished 5-for-6 at the plate with the three triples, four RBI, two runs scored and 11 total bases. His slugging percentage in the two games was 1.833.

Brink was also one of four Bulldogs to post at least four hits in the two victories. Austin Wynns, Chris Mariscal and Jordan Luplow were the other three.

Junior Aaron Judge crushed his sixth home run of the season and joined Wynns as the two Preseason All-Americans each scored four times on the day.

The Bulldogs' Derick Velazquez (3-2) and Garrett Mundell (1-4) earned the wins on the hill with Velazquez tossing a complete-game in the designated seven-inning early game. Mundell threw the final 2.1 scoreless innings of the night game to pick up his first win this year.

Fresno State and Air Force will return to the diamond for the team's second doubleheader in as many days on Saturday at Beiden Field with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m. PT.
