'Dogs Extend Win Streak to Four with Another Sweep

FRESNO, Calif. --- Riding its longest winning streak of the season, the Fresno State baseball team has now won its last four games by once again taking both ends of a doubleheader with the Air Force Falcons by the scores of 7-0 and 8-6 on Saturday afternoon at Beiden Field.

Fresno State (12-24, 7-10 Mountain West) got another complete game from its starter in the first game as freshman Blake Quinn went seven strong innings without allowing a run and just four hits while striking out four.

Meanwhile, Bulldogs' sophomore Jordan Brink has delivered a red-hot weekend offensively as he went 3-for-4 in the nightcap with three RBI and a run scored.

Air Force (10-27, 4-13 MW) committed nine errors in the two games over the course of 15 innings in the field, including six in the early seven-inning contest.

The Bulldogs will go for the five-game weekend MW series sweep on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on 790 AM ESPN The Deuce.

GAME 1 - Fresno State 7, Air Force 0
Fresno State continued its dominant weekend over Air Force with a 7-0 win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader behind a dominant pitching performance from freshman Blake Quinn.

The game was a seven-inning contest as part of the make-up from when the teams were snowed out in Colorado Springs.

Quinn, a Fresno native, threw a complete game shutout giving up just four hits and striking out four. The Falcons didn't get their first hit until there were two outs in the third inning.

The 'Dogs jumped on the Falcons in the first scoring two runs on an error and a wild pitch.

Fresno State leadoff hitter Chris Mariscal had three hits and scored two runs and Aaron Judge had two hits and also scored two runs.

Sophomore Taylor Tempel blew the game open in the top of the seventh with a two-RBI double that extended the `Dogs lead to 6-0 before adding the third run in the frame for the seven-run shutout.

GAME 2 - Fresno State 8, Air Force 6
The Bulldogs' Aaron Judge came through in the clutch and helped lead Fresno State to an 8-6 win over Air Force as the `Dogs swept another doubleheader from the Falcons.

After the 'Dogs surrendered a four-run lead in the top of the seventh, Judge stepped to the plate leading off the bottom of the inning and hit his team-leading seventh home run of the year over the left field fence that ended up being the game-winning run.

Sophomore Jordan Brink continued his hot-streak at the plate in the series, going 3-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in. For the series, he is now hitting .800 with three triples, two doubles and six RBI.

Bulldogs' right fielder Jordan Luplow posted a 4-for-4 day with three runs scored. Judge also crossed home three times.

Fresno State received a strong starting pitching performance from redshirt junior Tyler Stirewalt, who was making his first career start. Stirewalt went 4.1 innings and gave up just two hits and two runs. He also struck out three.

Jake Shull picked up the first win of his college career after throwing 2.2 innings of relief. The freshman gave up one run and struck out four.

The `Dogs will look to finish off a five-game sweep of the weekend series over Air Force tomorrow afternoon at Beiden Field.
