Air Force Falls To UNLV 5-4 Sunday

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Air Force baseball dropped another close game at UNLV, falling 5-4 Sunday afternoon at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The Falcons dropped to 9-278, 3-12 and the Rebels improved to 20-21, 5-10.
UNLV won in walkoff fashion, as left fielder Brandon Bayardi's sacrifice fly scored T.J. White from third for the game-winning run in the ninth inning.
The game was a see-saw battle that saw three lead changes. UNLV scored two runs in the second to jump ahead early. The Falcons responded with three runs in the fifth to go up 3-2, only to see the Rebels respond with two in the bottom of the inning to go back up 4-3.
The Falcons tied the game up with a run in the eighth. UNLV then rallied with the game-winning run in the ninth.
Falcon reliever Mike Kazakoff (0-1) took the loss. Starting pitcher Evan Abrecht worked 7.1 innings, striking out seven. Air Force had eight hits in the game. First baseman Seth Kline led the Falcons with two hits. Left fielder David Thomas added two RBIs.
UNLV reliever Zack Hartman (1-1) took the win. Rebel starting pitcher Buddy Borden pitched 6.1 innings, striking out 11. UNLV had 10 hits. Scott Dysinger, Trent Cook and Trevor Kirk had two hits each for the Rebels.
Air Force returns to action Tuesday, April 24, hosting Northern Colorado. First-pitch is 3 p.m.
