BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --- Despite a strong showing from Bulldogs' starter William Munro, the Fresno State baseball team fell 2-0 to the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners on Tuesday night at Hardt Field.

Munro tossed seven scoreless innings while striking out three batters and scattering five hits with no runs allowed.

But Fresno State (13-25) posted just five hits and a first inning base-running mistake by Bulldogs' junior Aaron Judge proved costly.

After catcher Austin Wynns drew a one-out walk, Judge singled to center to move Wynns to third, but Judge got caught in a run-down between first and second on the play for the second out of the opening frame. Cleanup hitter Jordan Luplow then lined out to right center to end the inning on what could have been a sacrifice fly if there had been out in the inning.

Bakersfield (28-14) bided its time and pounced for two runs on the Fresno State reliever Garrett Mundell in the bottom of the eighth.

The loss by Fresno State snapped its five-game winning streak and gave the Roadrunners their third win in as many tries over the Bulldogs this season.

The 'Dogs return to action on Friday at San Diego State for the start of a three-game Mountain West weekend series.
