FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State baseball team pounded out an 8-6 win over the Hawai'i Rainbows at Beiden Field on Tuesday night in its last nonconference game of the season.

Freshman Kevin Viers and junior Aaron Judge each went 3-for-4 at the plate while driving in two RBIs each and combining to score a total of three of Fresno State's eight runs.

Redshirt senior Trent Garrison launched his first home run of the season to put the Bulldogs on the board first in the bottom of the second inning. Garrison's monster shot over the right field wall also brought in Viers to put the 'Dogs up 2-0.

Viers connected for a ground-rule double to right-center to drive in two runs to put the Bulldogs up 4-0 in the fourth.

Fresno held Hawai'i scoreless until the top of the sixth when they hit in one.

Judge struck right back with his ninth home run of the season - a two-run blast to left in the sixth that extended the Bulldogs' lead to 6-1.

The Rainbows tallied four runs in the seventh to cut their deficit to four, but closer Tim Borst, who earned his third save of the year, fended off the UH rally with 2.1 scoreless innings of relief to finish off the win. Fresno State left-hander Tyler Linehan earned his second win this year with three strong innings of masterful control without allowing a run and striking out a pair of 'Bows.

After Judge registered his tenth stolen base of the season by swiping third base in the eighth, freshman Louie Payetta dropped down a perfect safety squeeze sacrifice bunt to bring Judge home for the RBI in the eighth.

The Bulldogs (17-29) kick off their Mountain West weekend series against regular season conference champion New Mexico on Friday at 6:35 p.m. at Beiden Field.
