Nevada Drops Game One To UNLV

RENO, Nev. – UNLV scored the first seven runs of the game and defeated the Wolf Pack 12-2 in the first-game of a three-game Mountain West series Friday night at Peccole Park.
The Pack dropped to 24-25 and 11-14 in MW play while UNLV improved to 32-17 and 14-11 in conference play.
Nevada’s two runs came in the bottom of the sixth when right fielder Brooks Klein’s seventh home run of the season scored Austin Byler to make the score 7-2.
Braden Shipley (7-3) suffered the loss allowing seven runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings on the mound. Erick Fedde (6-2) pitched into the ninth to earn his sixth win of the season allowing just the two runs on six hits.
Byler, Klein and catcher Ryan Teel each had two hits for the Pack.
Joey Swanner and T.J. White had had three hits each for the Rebels. Swanner finished with five RBI and White had three.
Tyler Wells (4-3) starts game two for the Pack on Saturday at 1 p.m. and UNLV will send Buddy Borden (6-1) to the mound.
