COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball (34-18, 16-12 Mountain West) dropped its series opener against Air Force (15-35, 7-21 MW) 13-6 on Thursday afternoon at Falcon Field.
Air Force controlled the momentum from the onset of the game, as the Falcons took a 1-0 lead after the first inning and extended it to a 6-0 lead after scoring five runs in the third inning.
UNLV chipped away at the Falcons' lead, scoring two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to make it a 6-3 game. Air Force added three runs in bottom of the sixth and UNLV tried to rally again in the top of the seventh inning, scoring two more runs to make it a 9-5 game.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Falcons blew the game open, scoring four runs to take a 13-5 lead. The Rebels would plate one more run in the top of the eighth, but that would be the end of the UNLV threat.

The Rebels and Falcons will be back in action tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. MT/12:00 p.m. PT at Falcon Field. Junior right hander Buddy Borden (7-1) is slated to get the start for UNLV.
