Five Lobo Baseball Games to be Televised This Season
Feb. 3, 2012
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico Lobos' 2012 baseball schedule will feature a handful of nationally televised games, including one against 2011 NCAA tournament participant Arizona State. The television schedule also features games against Mountain West foes San Diego State and UNLV.
The Mountain West announced its 2012 baseball television schedule and the Lobos will have five games televised live between The Mtn. and CBS College Sports. In addition, the Mtn. plans to televise the entire Mountain West tournament.
The game against Arizona State on April 10 will be broadcast by CBS College Sports and will conclude the Sun Devils’ two-game visit to Isotopes Park. The Sun Devils, who beat the Lobos in the NCAA tournament last season, are ranked 17th in the preseason by Collegiate Baseball newspaper and are led by shortstop Deven Marrero. Marrero was named a second-team preseason All-American by College Sports Madness.
The Mtn. will televise each of the Lobos’ three games at San Diego State April 13-15. The Aztecs are led by head coach Tony Gwynn and sophomores Cole Swanson and Cody Smith. Both Swanson and Smith were named freshman All-Americans last season by Baseball America.
The Mtn. will also broadcast the Lobos' game at UNLV on May 11.
The Mountain West Tournament will be May 24-27 at the Earl E. Wilson Baseball Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev.
In addition to game broadcasts, live pre- and post-game shows from The Mtn. studios will be part of all of The Mtn.-produced baseball telecasts, including the full slate of 2012 MW Baseball Championship games.
The Mtn. is carried nationally by DIRECTV (Channel 616) and locally by Comcast (Channel 276).
