Lobo Baseball Radio Schedule Released
Feb. 7, 2013
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Lobo baseball will be back on the air in 2013 and ESPN Radio 101.7 The Team will be the Lobos’ broadcast partner for the fourth year. The Team will air over 30 games including key non-conference road series at Nebraska, Texas Tech, and preseason No. 1 Arkansas.
There will, however, be a new voice for the Lobos as Robert Portnoy is joining The Team to handle the play-by-play duties.
"We strive to get the best people to provide the best radio content for our listeners" Team Broadcasting, Inc. President Joe O'Neill said. "Robert is that type of person and broadcaster. Having Robert is a great addition to The Team and we are excited to have Robert provide top-notch play-by-play for Lobo baseball."
Portnoy most recently was the voice of the Albuquerque Isotopes from 2006-2012 and has called games at every minor league level. He has also called professional basketball, college volleyball, and high school sports.
The tentative broadcast schedule begins with the Lobos’ season-opening series at home against Oklahoma State Feb. 15-17. Following the road games at Nebraska March 1-3, the doubleheader and series finale against UC Riverside on March 9 and 10 are the next to be broadcast.
The schedule resumes with a home game against Texas Tech on April 2 and then 21 of the remaining 24 games will be broadcast, including the series at Texas Tech and Arkansas. Home series against Fresno State, UNLV, and Air Force, as well as single home games against New Mexico State and another against Texas Tech, are also included in this stretch, as are road series at Mountain West foes San Diego State and Fresno State.
The Team will also air Lobo games at the Mountain West Tournament May 22-26 in Fresno, Calif.
