- Fresh off a seven-game roadtrip, the UNLV baseball team will host the 2012 home opener against CSU Bakersfield today at Wilson Stadium at 6:05 p.m.

The Rebels are coming off a 1-2 tournament finish at the 2012 Kleberg Bank College Classic in Corpus Christi this past weekend. The UNLV offense kicked into high gear over the weekend, scoring 18 runs off 35 hits, including a season-high 19 hits and nine runs against former Mountain West rival Utah on Feb. 25.

UNLV will kick off a 13-game home stand today with CSU Bakersfield. The Rebels and Roadrunners will meet again tomorrow afternoon at 2:05 p.m. and have Thursday off before hosting archrival Nevada, Reno this coming weekend, March 2-4.

HOME IS WHERE YOU MAKE IT

  After opening up the first two weekends and seven games on the road, the UNLV baseball team will kick off a 13-game home stand at Wilson Stadium Tuesday night against CSU Bakersfield. The Rebels and Roadrunners will square off Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. and Wednesday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. at Wilson Stadium.

SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
  CSU Bakersfield will tavel to Las Vegas for a twogame set this week, marking its first road games of the season after having gone 4-3 at home to start the year.
  The Roadrunners took two of three from Kansas State opening weekend before picking up a midweek win over future Mountain West member Fresno State, 4-0 on Feb. 22. CSU Bakersfield dropped two of three against UC Davis this past weekend.
  Kevin Younger leads the Roadrunners offense, batting .387 (12-of-31) on the year with two doubles, a triple and four RBI. Oscar Sanay (.379, 11-for-29) and DC Legg (.320, 8-for-25) round out the .300-or-higher hitters. Legg leads the team with three home runs and nine RBI this year and is slugging .680.
  Chuck Buchanan is slated for the Tuesday night start. Buchanan is 1-1 on the year with a 2.57 ERAwith nine strikeouts and four walks in 7.0 innings of work.
  Jeff McKenzie will be making his third start of the year Wednesday afternoon. McKenzie carries a 4.15 ERA this season, having recorded eight strikeouts against just two walks in 13.0 innings of work.

UNLV and CSU Bakersfield will meet for the first time in history this week, marking the first of three new opponents in 2012 for the Rebels.
