Rebels Set for Midweek Game with T-Birds

- The UNLV baseball team will continue home action this week, starting with a Tuesday night matchup with Southern Utah University at 6:05 p.m. at Wilson Stadium.

The Rebels are coming off a 3-2 week that starting with three consecutive wins; two against CSU Bakersfield and a Friday night win over rival Nevada, Reno. UNLV feel on Saturday and Sunday with both games being decided by one run.

  The Rebels opened up the 2012 home portion of its schedule with five games last week, posting a 3-2 mark.
  UNLV took the first three games at Wilson Stadium before falling in Saturday and Sunday’s contests against archrival Nevada, Reno.

  Southern Utah enters Tuesday night’s game in the midst of a two-game losing streak, having split its four-game series at Hawai’i Pacific.
  The T-Birds (2-8) are led by Bryson Kenolio and Marcus Romero, batting .320 and .317 respectively on the year. Romero leads the team in hits (13), RBI (10), stolen bases (5-for-5), total bases (21) and is tied for first with two doubles.
  Kelsey Outram leads the the pitching staff in ERA (1.48) but is 0-2 on the year in three appearances with 24.0 innings and 17 strikeouts to his credit. Joe Karlik is second on the team in innings pitched with 13.0 in four apperances including two starts and has a 4.15 ERA with eight strikeouts against 10 walks.

  UNLV and Southern Utah will meet for the 113th time in a series dating back to the 1967 season, marking the Rebels’ most played opponent in program history.
  The Rebels hold a commanding 93-18-1 series lead. UNLV has won 13 of the past 14 matchups, with last year’s 13-11 loss marking the first time since the 2000 season the T-Birds had knocked off UNLV.
