LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV baseball head coach Tim Chambers has received a two-year contract extension, Director of Athletics Jim Livengood announced Wednesday.

“We are extremely happy that Tim Chambers will remain as our baseball coach for the foreseeable future,” Livengood said. “In his third year, we are starting to see his recruiting come to fruition. He has done an outstanding job of building the program. We couldn’t be more pleased with what Tim and his staff have done with our young baseball team. As we move forward, we are excited for the program’s future in the Mountain West.”

Chambers was very successful at the College of Southern Nevada before coming to UNLV and in his three years leading the Rebels, he has compiled a record of 69-59 (10-3 this season.) His contract was set to expire this June.

“I’m very excited to be the head coach of UNLV baseball,” Chambers said. “We are building an exciting brand of baseball here and we have the tools to win. The camaraderie on our team and our staff is great. It is an exciting time to be part of Rebel baseball and the future is bright for the program.”

Chambers has also announced that assistant coach Stan Stolte has been promoted to associate head coach.

Stolte, in his third year with UNLV, held a similar position at Nevada, Reno. He was on the Wolf Pack’s staff for 14 seasons, including the last four there as their associate head coach.

“Stan has been an instrumental part of our staff,” Chambers said. “He has helped our pitchers grow these past few seasons. He has a tremendous amount of experience at this level and will continue to help our program grow.”
