Rebels Set To Host Aztecs

- Fresh off a 21-6 win over Southern Utah on Tuesday, the UNLV baseball team welcomes San Diego State University to Wilson Stadium for a three-game set this weekend.

The Rebels (14-15, 2-7 Mountain West) will host the second Mountain West series at Wilson Stadium beginning Thursday night at 6:05 p.m. from Wilson Stadium. The series starts a day earlier than usual due to the Easter holiday.

Game 1 - Joe Robinson (2-4, 3.38 ERA) vs. Michael Cederoth (2-0, 3.98 ERA)
Game 2 - Zak Qualls (3-2, 3.12) vs. Travis Pitcher (3-2, 3.83 ERA)
Game 3 - Erick Fedde (2-2, 2.89 ERA) vs. Ryan Doran (1-3, 4.20 ERA)

  The Rebels will open up a seven-game home stand starting tomorrow night with San Diego State University at Wilson Stadium.
  UNLV had recently played eight of its last 10 games on the road with Mountain West weekends at Air Force and TCU.
  The Rebels and Aztecs will kick the three-game series off on Thursday night at 6:05 p.m. due to Easter weekend. Game two will be at 6:05 p.m. Friday while the series finale is slated to start at 1:05 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
  UNLV will not play a midweek game the following week for the first time this season, resuming action the following Friday with the start of a four-game series with Nebraska-Omaha.

  San Diego State enters this weekend’s series having won four of its last five games, including a series sweep over Mountain West rival Air Force March 30-April 1 at home.
  Matt Munoz leads the SDSU offense, batting .370 (27-for-73) in 26 games played including 19 starts. Munoz has totaled four doubles and 13 RBI to go along with a .452 slugging percentage. Spencer Thornton has played in 25 games with 15 starts to his credit. Thornton is batting .352 (19-for-54) with four extra-base hits and 11 RBI.
  Michael Cederoth will be the game one starter for the Aztecs. Cederoth brings a 2-0 record and 3.98 ERA in 31.2 innings pitched to the table. He has struck out a team-leading 29 battters in eight appearances.
  Righty Travis Pitcher will be making his eighth start of the year Friday night. Pitcher is 3-2 with a 4.83 ERA in 31.2 innings on the hill and ranks second behind Cederoth in strikeouts with 27.
  Ryan Doran will close out the weekend rotation for San Diego State. Doran enters the game having made eight appearances, including five starts. The righty leads the team in innings pitched with 40.2 and has 24 strikeouts against 13 walks to his credit.

-San Diego State leads the overall series against UNLV 62-44 and leads 30-22 in Las Vegas.
-The Aztecs have won 12 of the last 14 total games, including three of the last four.
-In the last nine games at Earl E. Wilson Stadium, the Aztecs only hold a 5-4 advantage over the Rebels.
-San Diego State was the only team to hold the Rebels without a run in a game in 2011, handing UNLV a 6-0 loss in the second game of the weekend series at Wilson Stadium.
