After dropping a contest to San Francisco this past Monday, San Diego State will resume conference play when it travels to Reno, Nev., for a three-game series against Nevada that gets underway on Friday (May 3) at 6:00 p.m. (PT). The teams will also meet for contests on Saturday (May 4) and Sunday (May 5) at 1:00 p.m. (PT) each day.

The Aztecs have an all-time record of 8-6 against Nevada which includes sweeping a three-game series from the Wolf pack earlier this season in San Diego. SDSU has not played in Reno since the 1990 campaign. San Diego State has a mark of 4-3 vs. the Wolf Pack in San Diego, 1-2 in Reno and 3-1 on neutral fields.

College Sports Madness has named first baseman Ryan Muno the Madness Mountain West Baseball Player of the Week for his exceptional performance during the last week's action. Over SDSU's four games from April 22-28, he hit .400 (6-for-15) with two doubles, a home run and nine RBI. He also drew four walks for a .526 on-base percentage and finished with a .733 slugging percentage for the week. He recorded three RBI in three of the four contests.

Greg Allen has hit safely in each of the last six contests, going 12-for-25 (.400) over that span with seven runs scored and four RBI. That hitting streak is currently the longest on the squad and he has had at least one base hit in 16 of SDSU's last 17 contests. He leads the team in runs (39), walks (23) and steals (18). Allen's 18 steals are the most by an Aztec since the 2006 season when Quintin Berry had 32. He leads the conference in steals heading into this weekend's action.

Catcher Jake Romanski has thrown out nine of the last 13 runners trying to steal when he is behind the plate. At the plate he has gone 4-for-10 over the last three games with an RBI and two runs scored. He leads the team with 17 multiple-hit games.

Outfielder Matt Muñoz made his debut as the leadoff hitter in the contest at UNLV on April 21. In that game he had a pair of hits, a walk and scored a run. In the six games since assuming the leadoff role, Muñoz has batted .391 with a .462 on-base percentage. He has hit safely in 12 of SDSU's last 14 contests and had a five-game hitting streak end on Monday vs. San Francisco. Muñoz has reached base safely (via hit, walk or hit by pitch) in each of his last 14 games.

Evan Potter's 13 sacrifice bunts ties for second in the all-time SDSU listing. He needs one to tie the school season record set by Steve Boucher during the 1990 season. Tim Zier's 10 sac bunts ties for seventh. Ty France has been hit by pitch eight times this season, a figure that ties for 20th in the Aztec record book. On the SDSU career list, Potter's 26 sac bunts rank third while Zier's 16 career sac bunts are tied for 15th. Tim Zier has been hit by pitch 18 times during his career to rank eighth Brad Haynal has 13 career hit by pitch to tie for 17th on the all-time last.

As a team, San Diego state ranked among the top 50 in the nation in three categories at the beginning of the week. There are currently a total of 295 teams playing Division I baseball. That list includes strikeouts per nine innings (7.9 - 35th), fielding percentage (.975 - 31st) and stolen bases (64 - 47th). Individually, Michael Cederoth ranks 10th in strikeouts (85) and 22nd in strikeouts per nine innings pitched (10.34). In addition, Evan Potter ranks 13th in sacrifice bunts with 13 while Tim Zier is 46th with 10 sac bunts. Bubba Derby is 32nd in saves with nine.

The Aztecs' 18 runs against No. 21UC Irvine on April 23 was their highest output of the season while their 18 hits in that contest tied for the most in a game this season ... Ty France drew three walks in back-to-back game against Fresno State last weekend. He went 2-for-6 officially over the three-game series and compiled a .667 on-base percentage during the three contests ... The 2-0 win over Nevada April 5 was the first (and only) time in 17 contests this season that SDSU has won when scoring three or fewer runs ... Tim Zier leads the team with nine multiple-RBI games ... Zier is batting .381 (24-for-63) with runners in scoring position ... Zier's 16 multiple-hit contests trails only Jake Romanski, who has 17 this season ... Romanski is 4-for-6 with the bases loaded.
