FRESNO, Calif. - USA Baseball announced Fresno State outfielder Aaron Judge to its midseason Golden Spikes Award Watch List on Thursday, bringing the organization one step closer to identifying the top amateur baseball player in the country. Sponsored by Major League Baseball, the Golden Spikes Award will be presented in 2013 for the 36th time.

Judge was one of 32 original members to remain on the Golden Spikes Watch List from its original 50-man list released during the preseason on Feb. 14. Judge leads the 'Dogs in all major hitting categories through 42 games with a .346 batting average, .572 slugging percentage, seven home runs, 55 hits and 26 RBIs. The slugger also leads the team with eight steals on eight attempts.

The Watch List features 60 of the nation's top amateur players, and it will be a "rolling" list to ensure that athletes can play themselves into consideration for the Golden Spikes Award until May 28 when 30 semifinalists for the award will be announced. The Golden Spikes Award trophy will be awarded live on MLB Network for the third year in a row, with a live presentation scheduled during The Rundown on Friday, July 19.

Following Fresno State's three-game road trip to UNLV this weekend, the 'Dogs will host the remaining seven regular season games on its schedule beginning May 7 against Hawai'i before hosting the Mountain West Championships May 22-26. Tickets are available for all seven games as well as All-session tickets for the MW Tournament through the Bulldog Ticket Office by calling 559-278-DOGS or visiting www.gobulldogs.com.
