Rebels At San Diego State Friday-Sunday

May 3, 2012

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV gets back to Mountain West action this weekend after splitting a two-game, home set with UC Riverside on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Rebel bats came to life in game one, earning the team a 10-1 victory. Game two saw the Highlanders bounce back thanks to a brilliant pitching performance from junior right-hander Mitch Patito.

This weekend's series at San Diego State is especially critical given the Rebels' current position in the MW standings. UNLV enters the weekend tied for fifth with Air Force, looking to build momentum as the Mountain West tournament approaches May 24-27 in Las Vegas. The Falcons will spend the weekend in Lawrence, Kan., for four non-conference games with Missouri State and Kansas, meaning this weekend's series could provide UNLV with some breathing room in the conference standings.

San Diego State and UNLV met for a three-game series in Las Vegas, April 5-7, with the Aztecs earning a three-game sweep.
