San Diego State ended its regular in third place in the Mountain West Conference standings with a record of 15-15 in league play. With that finish the Aztecs earned the No. 3 seed at this week's Mountain West Tournament. It marks the 11th time in the 13 seasons of the league's existence that SDSU has finished third or higher in the final conference standings.

With only six teams in the Mountain West during the 2013 campaign, all six schools will compete in the double-elimination championship event. By virtue of its league finish, San Diego State will be the number-three seed at this week's Mountain West Conference Tournament. That championship event gets underway on Wednesday, May 22, at Pete Beiden Field in Fresno, Calif.

San Diego State's all-time record against Air Force stands at 90-21 since the teams first met in 1961. The Aztecs have won 46 of the last 53 meeting between the teams and have dropped only seven games to the Falcons during Tony Gwynn's reign as head coach. This season SDSU won two of the three games played in Colorado Springs and two of the three contests held in San Diego. The Aztecs are 48-8 vs. the Falcons in San Diego and 37-13 at Air Force's home field. The Aztecs have won all five meetings at neutral sites with all of those games coming during the Mountain West Tournament.

There will be no over-the-air television broadcast of games during the Mountain West tournament. All games of the 2013 Mountain West Baseball Championship will be broadcast on the Internet live from Pete Beiden Field in Fresno, Calif., May 22-26. A live web stream of every game will be available for free on the Mountain West Network through

San Diego state will change up its pitching rotation for the conference tournament. The Aztecs will start junior Philip Walby in their tourney opener against Air Force. His last start came vs. the Falcons on May 12 when he went seven innings allowing two runs on four hits with two walks and a strikeout as he picked up his third win of the year. SDSU is expected to start sophomore Michael Cederoth in their second game of the tourney. In the Aztecs advance past Thursday's second round, they will likely start senior Ryan Doran.

The Aztecs are on course to record their best season fielding percentage in the history of the program dating back to 1936. The team's current fielding mark of .977 surpasses the school record of .974 turned in by the 2009 squad. In addition, SDSU will also likely set a team mark for errors in a season since the Aztecs began playing a minimum of 40 games in a season (1965). They have 46 miscues with the next lowest season total being 65 in 2009. San Diego State leads the Mountain West (both overall and in conference play) in both pitching and defense.
