Rebels To Face Top-Seeded New Mexico Thurs. At 7 PM

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) -

After officially securing the final berth in the Mountain West Baseball Championship Tournament last weekend, UNLV will face No. 1 seed New Mexico, Thursday night at 7 p.m., at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The Lobos locked up the top seed after tying with TCU for the regular-season conference championship, but winning the tie-breaker by virtue of a better overall record versus third-place finisher San Diego State.

The Mountain West Championship is a double-elimination tournament, meaning the Rebels will be in action again regardless of Thursday night’s outcome. Overall this season, UNLV is 1-5 against New Mexico with the lone win coming May 11 at Wilson Stadium, a 7-4 decision.

UNLV enters play this weekend carrying the momentum of a three-game sweep at Sacramento State last weekend (May 18-20). The Hornets finished the regular season tied for the WAC title. The Rebels picked up a12-0 victory on Friday, 5-3 on Saturday and 8-7 on Sunday.
