Bayardi Selected By Minnesota In 2012 MLB Draft

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - UNLV junior outfielder Brandon Bayardi, along with four incoming freshmen to the Rebel baseball program, were selected during the three-day 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft, which concluded on Wednesday.

Bayardi was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 36th round.

The incoming Rebels that were drafted: Ron Miller, a third baseman from Junipero Serra High School in Calif., selected in the 10th round by the Miami Marlins; Mike Meyers, a shortstop from Silverado High School in Las Vegas, taken in the 12th round by the Boston Red Sox; Evan Van Hoosier, a second baseman from Green Valley High School in Las Vegas, selected in the 26th round by the Philadelphia Phillies; and Bryan Bonnell, a right-handed pitcher from Centennial High School in Las Vegas, taken in the 31st round by the Chicago Cubs.
