SECAUCUS, N.J. --- Five Fresno State baseball players and three Bulldog recruits were drafted during the three-day 2013 Major League Baseball amateur draft.

Bulldogs' junior outfielder Aaron Judge became the 12th Fresno State first-round pick since 1972 when he was selected by the New York Yankees with the No. 32 overall selection on Thursday - the draft's opening day.

"What an unbelievable experience!" Judge said late Thursday night. "I couldn't ask for a better organization to go! I'm so blessed to be able to share this moment with my parents here. I will always remember my time as a Bulldog. I was coached by one of the greatest college coaches, who not only helped transform me into the player I am today, but always a great man off the field."

Fresno State signee Jordan Paroubeck (Serra HS) was also drafted on the first day of the MLB Draft when the San Diego Padres picked the 6-2, 190-pound switch-hitting outfielder in the second round with the 69th overall selection.

Bulldog signee Carlos Salazar (Kerman HS), was drafted on Friday as the Atlanta Braves used the 102nd overall selection to draft the 6-foot, 210-pound hard-throwing right-handed pitcher.

Fresno State junior left-handed pitcher Tyler Linehan and senior catcher Austin Wynns were also selected Friday on day two of the organization's annual amateur draft.

Linehan went in the ninth round to the Milwaukee Brewers as the No. 272 overall selection and Wynns' name was called in the tenth round when the Baltimore Orioles drafted him with the No. 309 overall pick.

"It was an honor to be drafted in the top ten rounds and I loved being a Bulldog," Linehan said late Friday night. "I loved the teammates that surrounded me the last three years. It was a great group of players. The fans were great and I loved having them be at every game cheering for us."

"Being drafted is a dream come true, but being a Bulldog is forever in my blood," Wynns said.

Fresno State junior right-handed pitcher Tyler Stirewalt and senior catcher/first baseman Trent Garrison were chosen on the third day of the draft.

Stirewalt, a native of San Bernardino, Calif., was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the 21st Round as the No. 620 overall selection.

"I'm pumped and very excited to go out and start my pro career and play baseball," Stirewalt said Saturday afternoon.

The selection of Garrison by the New York Yankees in the 28th Round with the No. 854 overall pick reunites the twin battery of Trent and Taylor Garrison, who also played together at Fresno State.

"It's a dream come true for me, and to be drafted by such an awesome organization like the Yankees is overwhelming," Trent Garrison said. "I'm excited to be playing with my brother again! We have been on the same team our whole lives to continue is unbelievable. I can't thank all of my coaches and teammates, fans, family and wife throughout my career as a Bulldog for all the support I have been given. I will never forget my time at Fresno State as a Bulldog."

Fresno State signee Connor Brogdon (Liberty HS) became the Bulldogs' third recruit that signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Fresno State in November 2012 to be drafted by a Major League Baseball organization during the three-day draft. Brogdon, a 6-5 right-handed pitcher out of Madera, Calif., was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 40th Round with the No. 1,213 overall pick.

Paroubeck, Salazar and Brogdon have until mid-July to decide whether to sign a professional contract or honor their National Letters of Intent to attend Fresno State starting in the fall.

A total of 56 players under head coach Mike Batesole's tutelage at Fresno State have now been chosen to continue their professional careers by way of the annual draft.
