Three Falcons Named 2012 Mountain West Scholar-Athletes

USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Three Air Force baseball players earned Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors, announced by the conference office today. Senior pitchers Evan Abrecht and Michael Ceci and freshman outfielder Jake Sortor were named scholar-athletes.
Abrecht recently graduated with a 3.51 grade-point average and a degree in Systems Engineering. The right-hander from Farmington, Ark., was Air Force's team MVP for the 2012 season. Ceci, a native of Marietta, Ga., recently graduated with a 3.83 GPA and a degree in Management. Sortor, a native of Mukilteo, Wash., currently maintains a 3.58 GPA and is majoring in Systems Engineering Management.
A total of 471 student-athletes were honored, including 39 individuals who have achieved a 4.00 or higher cumulative grade point average over two or more terms, and 61 student-athletes who were recognized in multiple sports.
The MW Scholar-Athlete Award is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the Conference. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, and have participated in varsity competition in an NCAA-sponsored sport.
