Eight Falcons Named 2013 Academic All-Mountain West
USAF Academy, Colo. - Air Force baseball placed a program-record eight players on the 2013 Academic All-Mountain West team, announced by the conference office today. Senior pitcher Matt Zettler led the way with his fourth all-academic honor.
Sophomore Noah Pierce earned his second all-academic honor. Junior Jake Schomaker and sophomore Dillon Freeman earned their first honors. In addition, freshmen Coleman Poje, Steven Trojan, Brady Weaver and Bo Wilson earned their first academic all-conference honors.
Air Force baseball's eight all-academic selections surpassed the previous record of six set by the 2011 team.
A total of 729 student-athletes were named to the spring 2013 Academic All-Mountain West team. Spring sports include baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's golf, softball, women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field.
Air Force posted 65 student-athletes to the spring 2013 Academic All-MWC team. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
