CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa --- As the 2012 summer collegiate baseball season came to an end, the Perfect Game ranked Fresno natives Jordan Luplow at 13th and Jordan Brink at 20th in the Alaska Baseball League Top 30 Prospect List. The Perfect Game also considered Chris Mariscal for the list.
The Alaska Baseball League (ABL) is ranked in the top five of the 25 summer leagues across the country and rankings are based on the depth of the players' potential at the pro-level.
Luplow, an outfielder this past summer for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, ended with the fifth-most RBI in the ABL at 26. As a freshman this past spring, he received Most Valuable Player honors at the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Tournament and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 13th to propel Fresno State to its sixth NCAA regional in the past seven seasons.
Brink, an outfielder for the Anchorage Bucs, finished the summer with a .316 average and appearances in 35 games. Brink primarily patrolled left field for Fresno State this past spring as a starter in 50 games and tallied 41 hits, six doubles and 18 RBI.
Mariscal, an infielder, was considered for the Alaska Baseball League Top 30 prospects. He played alongside Luplow for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots and averaged .256 in his summer campaign.
Fresno State returns to Beiden Field next season as a member of the Mountain West Conference and hosts the 2013 MW Championship in late May 2013.
