Shipley, Klein And Byler Recognized For Summer Play

RENO, Nev. – Three members of the University of Nevada baseball team were recognized for their play over the summer.  Junior pitcher Bradey Shipley, senior outfielder Brooks Klein and sophomore third baseman Austin Byler were all honored.

Shipley, the 2012 WAC Pitcher of the Year, was selected as the top prospect in the Alaska League by Perfect Game and earned first team all-league honors.  Shipley was 1-2 with seven saves and a 2.44 ERA playing for the Anchorage Bucs.  He pitched 16.2 innings in 17 appearances as the Bucs posted a 26-22 record.

Klein was named the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League Hitter of the Year.  Playing for the Palm Springs Power he batted .369 with six doubles, a triple, one home run, 27 runs scored and 28 RBI.  He was also named the 10th best prospect in the SCCBL by Perfect Game.

After being named to the all-star game earlier this summer Byler earned second-team All-West Coast League honors playing for Klamath Falls Gems in Klamath Falls, Ore.  In 42 games he batted .325 with 33 runs scored, 14 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 35 RBI.
