FRESNO, Calif. - The No. 9 top moment in Fresno State Athletics in 2012 was when the Fresno State baseball team defeated Sacramento State 4-3 in 13 innings to claim the 2012 WAC Baseball Tournament championship on May 27 at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz.

"It was great win for our seniors - that's four in four years for them," Fresno State baseball coach Mike Batesole said. "Three in three years for our juniors, two in two years for our sophomores and our freshmen grew up quick and got their first one. That makes us really proud. Four rings in four years, that's fantastic for our kids."

But not only have the Bulldogs won either the regular season or tournament title the past four years - the streak extends back seven years to 2006.

To get there, Fresno State and Sacramento State were locked in what turned out to be the longest WAC Tournament game in the conference's history at the 13 innings and the gritty effort from both teams became an intense marathon that ended on the walk-off winner off the bat of a freshman Jordan Luplow.

The game winner was lifted into right field, scoring Daniel Moultrie from second base in the bottom of the 13th inning to start a joyous celebration of red on the field.

"That was a tough one," Batesole added. "Sac State has the best team they have had in a long time. They played their tails off and what an offense they have. That was about as tough a game as we have had all year."

The win propelled the Bulldogs into the NCAA Tournament for the sixth time in the past seven seasons.
