Big Notes

  • Air Force made 12 three-point field goals. That matches the most allowed by San Diego State in a game this season (UC Santa Barbara, 12-6-12). The Aztecs had allowed 12 made three-point field goals in their last three games combined entering Saturday's game.
  • San Diego State overcame a 12-point second half deficit, tying for third largest second half deficit overcome since the 1996-97 season. SDSU overcame 14 point second half deficits to defeat Monmouth (11-22-04) and UC Santa Barbara (12-22-99).
  • San Diego State owned a 38-20 advantage in points in the paint and a 16-6 edge in second chance points.
  • San Diego State falls to 24-5 in games decided by six points or less or in overtime since the beginning of the 2010-11 season. That is the second best record in that circumstance entering the day, trailing only Kansas (20-3).

    Injury Update

  • San Diego State played without junior guard Xavier Thames for the third time in seven conference games. The Aztecs also were without the services of the point guard in road games at Fresno State and at Wyoming.

    Eighth double-double of the season and the 21st of his career (remains in fifth place on the SDSU career chart)... The junior reaches double figures in points for the eighth straight game, the 17th time this season and the 49th time in his career... He reaches 20 points for the seventh time this season and the 16th time in his career... He led the team in scoring for the 14th time this season and the 30th time in his career... Tied a career high with six assists and has three or more assists in four consecutive games (4.3 apg)... Had two steals for his career high fourth consecutive game with multiple steals... Made a season-high 11 free throws and tied a season best with 12 attempts (also Syracuse, 11-11-12).... His seven-game streak with a three-point field goal came to an end, one short of matching his career long. Has 977 career points.

    James Rahon (14 points, 2-9 3FGs)
    The senior, who entered the game leading the nation in fewest turnovers per minute played, had three miscues... It marked his first game with three or more turnovers since Feb. 18, 2012 (at Air Force)... Entered the game having missed on his last 12 three-point attempts, but after that streak was extended to 14, he made two second half treys... It marked the seventh time this season and the 48th time in his career that he has made multiple treys in a game... The Aztecs entered the game 6-0 this season when he made multiple three-point field goals... Rahon's 14 points were his most since scoring 16 at Fresno State (1-9-13)... He scored in double figures for the fifth time this season and 47th time in his career.

    Deshawn Stephens (10 points, 8 rebounds)
    Stephens produced another solid game as he reached double figures for the seventh time this season and the 11th time in his career... He nearly posted a double-double in just 27 minutes of action... He was 4-6 from the floor... His eight rebounds were his most since grabbing eight boards against San Francisco (12-22-12).

    JJ O'Brien (10 points, 7 rebounds)
    The reigning Mountain West Conference Player of the Week reached double figures for a third consecutive game, sixth time this season and 12th time in his career... This marks the first time the sophomore has scored 10 or more points in three consecutive games in his 43-game career... In his last three games, he has 34 points, 20 rebounds and five assists... He has 17 rebounds in his last two games, the highest two-game total of his San Diego State career...
