Foster Fuels 'Dogs to 76-67 Win over Mustangs

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. --- The Bulldogs dialed up the energy and used a career-night by senior Kevin Foster to fuel a 76-67 victory over Cal Poly on Monday night at Mott Gym.
Fresno State (3-1) is off to its best start to a season since the 2006-07 when the Bulldogs began the year 7-0.
The Bulldogs built a 37-30 halftime lead over the Mustangs behind the power of an impressive post presence.
Senior forward Kevin Foster scored a career-best 28 points and nine rebounds, including 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the first half alone, and held strong in the second half en route to its third straight victory.
Junior guard Kevin Olekaibe, the Bulldogs' leading scorer from a season ago, broke out for 17 points, including 12 in the first half and a 4-for-6 mark on his 3-point attempts in the game.
With the 'Dogs down 18-16, Olekaibe's first 3-pointer of the game - a deep one from the right wing - gave the Bulldogs the lead for good at 19-18 and started an 8-0 run by the Bulldogs to move Fresno State ahead 24-19.
After opening the season with three of its first four on the road, Fresno State returns to action on Sunday afternoon at the Save Mart Center at 1 p.m. when the Bulldogs host Long Beach State - its fourth straight game against a Big West opponent.
