FRESNO, Calif. --- The Fresno State men's basketball team suffered its first home loss of the season in falling to Long Beach State 69-61 in a rare Sunday matinee at the Save Mart Center.

Fresno State (3-2) used a high-energy spark in the early part of the first half to build a 29-20 lead with 7:15 left before halftime before allowing LBSU to close the half on a 17-5 run, which gave the 49ers a 37-34 edge at the break.

The Bulldogs played from behind throughout the second half and couldn't make enough defense stops or hit enough shots down the stretch to overcome what became a 10-point second-half deficit.

Junior point guard Allen Huddleston scored a team-best 13 points for the 'Dogs while Tyler Johnson added 10 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Freshman Robert Upshaw posted eight points and six rebounds in his Save Mart Center debut.

Despite the loss, Fresno State has still won three of its first five games of a season for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

The Bulldogs head back on the road for a Wednesday night game at Southern Illinois, which tips off at 5 p.m. PT and can be heard live on KMJ 580 AM or online at www.gobulldogs.com/allaccess (subscription required).
