ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico men’s and women’s basketball programs continue to work to make their community a better place. The most recent community service program involves working with the “Teens for Jeans” campaign. The program serves homeless teens in the community by giving out jeans.

Coach Alford, Coach Sanchez and company are partnering with students from nearby Los Lunas Middle School with the goal of collecting 10,000 pairs of jeans throughout the state of New Mexico for the state’s homeless teen population. Los Lunas Student Council President, Candace Johnson, held a campaign last year and gathered 110 pairs of jeans. This year, with the help of Los Lunas Middle School, they are looking to help even more teens.

The teams will be collecting jeans at a pair of upcoming men’s and women’s home games. Donated jeans must be new or gently used, and the Los Lunas students will have bins at The Pit for donated jeans before tip-off in each corner of the concourse.

Men’s Basketball will be accepting jeans: Wednesday, January 9th (8 p.m.) vs. UNLV

Women’s Basketball will be accepting jeans: Saturday, January 26th (6 p.m.) vs. San Diego State

Please join the Lobos in helping to make our community a better place. Bring new or gently-used jeans to the men’s UNLV game and the women’s San Diego State game and help clothe New Mexico’s homeless teen population.
