Lobo Athletics Recommends Alternate Routes to The Pit for Lobo Hoops

Jan. 22, 2013

Albuquerque, N.M. --- Construction has commenced on the I-25/Avenida Cesar Chavez interchange, and with that, UNM Athletics is strongly encouraging fans of Lobo Basketball to seek alternate routes to Lobo basketball, starting with Wednesday's 6 p.m. men's game with Colorado State.

Construction by the New Mexico Department of Transportation will be ongoing until at least March 1, and while it will improve access to The Pit and UNM's athletic facilities, the following recommendations are being made by UNM athletics to improve the fan experience getting to and leaving the games.

*Fans arriving traveling south on I-25 should use the Lead/Coal exit (224) or the Lomas exit (225) to University Blvd. *Fans arriving traveling north on I-25 should use the Gibson exit (222).

While it is possible to use the Avenida Cesar Chavez exit, due to construction fans might be directed to head downtown and take detours to the arena, thereby make the trip longer than the alternate routes mentioned above. Also, the southbound exit will be slower during construction, causing a potential for backup onto I-25.

Fans are also recommended to use the same alternative routes when leaving The Pit and UNM's athletic facilities.
