Runnin' Rebels Begin MW's Second Half Saturday

Feb. 10, 2012

Off to its best start to a season since 1991-92, the No. 14/16 UNLV men's basketball team (21-4, 5-2 Mountain West) will start the second half of league play by hosting No. 13/14 San Diego State on Saturday, Feb. 11, at a sold-out Thomas & Mack Center at 1 p.m. PST.

The Runnin' Rebels had their five-game win streak snapped at Wyoming (68-66) on Feb. 4, and have won 12 of their last 14 games. Those two losses are by a combined four points with the other one occurring in this year's MW opener at San Diego State on Jan. 14, on a last-second shot. UNLV is tied for second place in the Mountain West, just one game behind SDSU.

Jon Sandler and Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio broadcast, which may be heard live in Las Vegas on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/98.9 FM. The radio broadcast is also available at through the subscription-based All-Access feature, while Gametracker is provided for free on the website.

UNLV is ranked for the ninth week this season, its highest total number of weeks in the polls since 1992-93. The Runnin' Rebels are 32-21 all-time against San Diego State, but have lost six straight against the Aztecs, nine of their last 10 overall and three straight at the Thomas & Mack Center.
