Mountain West Announces Men's Basketball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - New Mexico senior forward Drew Gordon has been named the Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games through February 19. This is the third weekly accolade for Gordon this season and fifth of his career.
Gordon averaged 22.0 points and 18.5 rebounds while helping New Mexico take sole possession of first place in the Mountain West standings with back-to-back wins over top-15 opponents last week. In Wednesday's 77-67 victory at No. 13 San Diego State, the San Jose, Calif., native notched his 25th career double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds while also tallying two assists and one blocked shot in 35 minutes of action. Gordon then registered his 26th career double-double with a personal-best 27 points and 20 rebounds in a 65-45 win over No. 11 UNLV. He is just the eighth player in the last decade to record a 20-point, 20-rebound performance against a top-25 opponent. The senior forward also had three steals and two assists while shooting 65 percent (13-of-20) from the field in 36 minutes of play against the Runnin' Rebels. For the week, Gordon was 20-of-35 (.571) from the field and 4-of-5 (.800) from the free throw line.
