Runnin' Rebels Move Back Up Polls

Feb. 27, 2012

The UNLV (24-6) men's basketball team, which moved back into a three-way tie atop the Mountain West standings after winning two home games last week, also rose in the national rankings on Monday.

The Runnin’ Rebels moved up four spots in the Associated Press poll to No. 17 and three spots to 17th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll.

UNLV 2011-12 opponents North Carolina (6/6), Wisconsin (14/15), Wichita State (15/14) and San Diego State (21/23) are all ranked this week while three teams the Runnin’ Rebels have wins against are receiving votes in this week's coaches' poll: New Mexico, Nevada, Reno and California.

UNLV, which is 16-0 at home for the first time since 1989-90, will play its final true road game of the season on Wednesday when it travels to Colorado State at 7:00 pm PT on CBS Sports Network.

Head coach Dave Rice's team will then close out its regular season by hosting a Senior Night White Out meeting with Wyoming on Saturday at 7:00 pm PT. That game, which will feature a 2-for-1 Ticket Special, T-shirt Giveaway & Senior Poster Night, will be televised by The Mtn.

Two-for-one balcony tickets are available prior to the day of game (or while supplies last) and all fans are asked to wear white to honor UNLV’s four graduating seniors – Oscar Bellfield, Brice Massamba, Chace Stanback and Kendall Wallace. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a free white UNLV T-shirt as well as a free poster featuring this year’s senior class. For more ticket information or to purchase, call (702) 739-FANS (3267), visit or stop by the Thomas & Mack Center box office.
