Jamaal Franklin Earns MW Player-of-the-Week Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State sophomore guard Jamaal Franklin has been named Mountain West co-player of the week, the league announced Monday. The award is his third of the season and he shares it with New Mexico's Drew Gordon.

Franklin registered consecutive double-doubles in leading San Diego State to a pair of road wins to help the Aztecs clinch a share of their second consecutive MW regular season title. Franklin led all players with 18 points and 12 rebounds in Wednesday's 66-53 win at Boise State. He was 5-of-9 (.556) from the field and 6-of-7 (.857) from the free throw line while adding a team-high three assists.

In the regular-season finale at TCU, Franklin poured in a career-high 35 points to go along with a personal- and game-best five assists and a game-high 13 rebounds in the 98-92 overtime win. He shot 50.0 percent (9-of-18) from the field and was 14-of-17 (.824) from the free throw line.

For the week, the Hawthorne, Calif., native averaged 26.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, while shooting 51.9 percent (14-of-27) from the field, including 41.7 percent (5-of-12) from 3-point range, and 83.3 percent (20-of-24) from the charity stripe.
