Top-Seeded SDSU Looks For Fourth Straight MW Title Game Appearance

* Top-seeded and No. 18/21 San Diego State, winners of a conference record seven consecutive Mountain West tournament games, looks to advance to the title game for a fourth straight year on Friday when the Aztecs face fourth-seeded Colorado State in the first semifinal game at 6:05 p.m. PT.

* SDSU won its quarterfinal game for the seventh time in eight seasons on Thursday, defeating Boise State, 65-62. Jamaal Franklin's game-winning three-pointer above two defenders, gave the Aztecs the three-point win. Chase Tapley had 20 points and four assists, while Franklin added 19 points and five rebounds.

* It marks the second game-winning shot this season for Franklin (UNLV, 1-14-12). He becomes the fifth player since the game-winning record began being kept in 1996-97, to record two career game-winning shots (Brandon Heath - 4, D.J. Gay - 3, Al Faux - 2 and Billy White - 2).

* San Diego State posted its 25th win of the season on Thursday marking the fourth straight season the Aztecs have won at least 25 games. Only seven teams nationally have won 25 or more games from 2008-09 through 2011-12: Brigham Young, Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, Saint Mary's, Syracuse and SDSU.

* For the first time in the 13-year history of the Mountain West, a team has won four straight men's basketball titles (counts regular-season and tournaments). San Diego State claimed the 2010 tournament title, earned a co-championship with Brigham Young in 2010-11, before repeating as the tournament champion in 2011, and claiming the 2011-12 regular season title. SDSU joins Kansas and Ohio State as the only teams to win regular-season titles in 2010-11 and 2011-12 and conference tournament championships in 2010 and 2011.

* Despite losing four starters off last season's team and not being selected to make the NCAA Tournament field by any preseason magazine, San Diego State has already posted its program-best seventh consecutive 20-win campaign and a school-record fourth-straight 25-win season. National Coach of the Year candidate and MW Coach of the Year Steve Fisher has the Aztecs on the verge of a third straight NCAAappearance despite not being picked to finish higher than third place in the MW by any preseason publication.

The Colorado State Game

* San Diego State and Colorado State are meeting for the third time this season. The schools split the season series with the Rams winning in Fort Collins and the Aztecs returning the favor in San Diego.

* Colorado State owns the all-time series lead with SanDiego State, 36-32. The Aztecs, however, have won 15 of the last 17 meetings.

* SDSU and CSU are meeting at the MW Championship for the fourth time. San Diego State is 2-1 vs. the Rams at the conference tournament. The schools last met in 2010 in Las Vegas with the Aztecs claiming a 72-71 victory. Colorado State's only win over SDSU at the tourney came in 2007.

San Diego State sophomore Jamaal Franklin and the Aztecs meet Colorado State in the Mountain West semifinals.
