COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Midwest Region's No. 6 seed and nationally ranked San Diego State men's basketball team fulfilled its pre-NCAA Tournament obligations on Thursday at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

The No. 22/23 Aztecs boarded the team charter on Wednesday afternoon and arrived in Columbus in the late evening. Following its normal routine Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the squad made its way to the home of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets to participate in pre-tournament festivities.

SDSU student-athletes Jamaal Franklin, Tim Shelton, Chase Tapley and Xavier Thames fielded questions from the national media during the Aztecs' scheduled news conference. Head coach Steve Fisher, meanwhile, met with crews from truTV and Westwood Radio before taking his spot on the podium. During this time, San Diego State's locker room was open where television crews and print writers were granted access to the rest of the team.

Following the media session, the Aztecs hit the hardwood for their 40-minute open practice on the Nationwide Arena floor. SDSU went through shooting drills and got up and down the floor. Fisher also met with Tim Brando, Mike Gminski and Otis Livingston, who are calling the game on truTV, and Wayne Larrivee and John Thompson, who are handling duties on Westwood One Radio.

San Diego State will open NCAA play on Friday against 11th-seeded North Carolina State. The game is set for a 12:40 p.m. ET/9:40 a.m. PT start on truTV.

truTV can be seen in San Diego on AT&T U-Verse (channel 164, 165, 1164 HD), Cox (channel 44, 1044 HD), DIRECTV (246, 246 HD), DISH Network (204, 204 HD, 9430 HD) and Time Warner (channel 51).
