The San Diego State men's basketball team has received national recognition over the last few days as the nation looks ahead to the 2012-13 campaign.

With the 2011-12 season already in the books, many consider the Aztecs among the elite heading into the summer and next season.'s Jeff Goodman and Gary Parrish, along with Jon Wilner, a top-25 voter from the San Jose Mercury News, have SDSU ranked ninth in their preseason top-25 polls.

USA Today's Marlen Garcia, meanwhile, has San Diego State at No. 10 in her poll and CBS Sports Network analyst, Jon Rothstein, has SDSU at No. 18. Andy Katz of slotted the Aztecs at No. 23 in his preseason top-25 rankings.

San Diego State is slated to return four starters and its top four scorers from last year's team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season, won its second straight Mountain West regular-season title and finished with a 26-8 record, its fourth consecutive 25-win effort. Additionally, over the last seven campaigns, SDSU has won 20 or more games and advanced to the postseason in each of those seasons.
