Aztecs' Recruiting Class Ranked 24th by Rivals

SAN DIEGO - 2012-13 SDSU Preseason Accolades

San Diego State's 2012 recruiting class is the 24th-best in the nation, and tops in the Mountain West, according to SDSU's three-person group includes Winston Shepard, Skylar Spencer and Matt Shrigley.

"The Aztecs have a potential big-time impact player on the way in the highly versatile Shepard," Rivals said. "A playmaker who can defend almost every position on the floor, he'll be backed up near the rim by a shot-blocking specialist in Spencer. Shrigley is a guy who can fill it up and just missed the final Rivals150."

Shepard and Spencer finished the season rated in the final Rivals150 rankings. Shepard, a five-star forward out of Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev., came in at No. 21, while Spencer, a center out of Los Angeles Price High, was slotted at No. 126.

The nationally recognized trio will join another Aztec threesome which will be eligible next year in Division I transfers JJ O'Brien (Utah), Dwayne Polee II (St. John's) and James Johnson (Virginia). O'Brien and Polee II will be eligible at the start of the 2012-13 campaign, while Johnson will be available at mid-season following the posting of Fall 2012 semester grades.


Deposits have been taken on 2,000 new season tickets for the 2012-13 men's basketball campaign. Fans interested in purchasing season tickets should contact the Aztec Ticket Office.

As for the Wooden Classic, 2,300 tickets have been sold for the for the non-conference game between SDSU and UCLA at Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on Dec. 1. Tickets in the San Diego State sections, adjacent to the Aztec bench and floor seats are available. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales through the Aztec Ticket Office will go to the SDSU Athletics Department.
