May 2, 2012

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State freshman guard/forward Anthony Drmic and New Mexico freshman guard Hugh Greenwood were named to the Australian Boomers squad Tuesday, the first step towards making the Australian Olympic Team.

Drmic and Greenwood are two of five individuals on the Boomers roster who are currently playing at the collegiate level in the United States, joining Valparaiso's Ryan Broekhoff, Saint Mary's Matt Dellavedova and Washington State's Brock Motum. The remainder of the squad is comprised of professional players from the NBA, NBL (Australian) and European ranks.

Drmic started all 29 of the Broncos' contests in 2011-12, averaging 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds a game. The Endeavor Hills, Victoria, native received all-MW honorable mention accolades.

Greenwood, who hails from Hobart, Tasmania, emerged as the Lobos' starting point guard last season. He contributed 6.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game while playing in 33 of the Lobos' 35 contests.

The 25-man Boomers squad will be reduced to a team of 12 individuals that will represent Australia in London at the 2012 Olympics, beginning July 29.

The process will begin in Perth, Australia, June 3, with the first of three camps.
