This is the first in a series of MW men's basketball blogs detailing developments involving the league's hoops programs since the conclusion of the 2012-13 season. We begin with Air Force.

2013-14 Signees: Because of Air Force's appointment process, the academy is not allowed to publicly comment on recruits. The Falcons released last season's recruiting list in early July.

Overview: The Falcons, who earned a berth in the Tournament last season, face the unenviable task of replacing five seniors, including guard Michael Lyons, a first-team All-MW selection who finished tied with Boise State's Anthony Drmic (17.7 ppg) as the league's leading scorer in 2012-13. Lyons, Broekhuis, Fitzgerald, Fletcher and Green combined to average 50.8 points per game last season, or 72.6 percent of the team's 70-point per game average. The five combined for 138 starts and all averaged more than 17 minutes per game. Air Force, however, which features just one senior (forward Chase Kammerer) on the 2013-14 roster, is not entirely devoid of experience. Earls, a junior forward (3.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg), made 22 starts while averaging 14.2 minutes per game in 2012-13. Meanwhile, junior forwards Williams and Olesinski, along with Coggins, a sophomore guard, all averaged more than 10 minutes per contest a year ago. Neither are the Falcons bereft of size with the likes of Kammerer (6-8), Olesinski (6-8), junior forward Ethan Michael (6-8) and sophomore center Zach Moer (6-10).
