Savon Goodman To Join Runnin' Rebels
June 15, 2012
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - Savon Goodman has signed a written offer of financial aid from UNLV and will join the men's basketball program this summer, head coach Dave Rice announced Friday.
Goodman, a 6-foot-6-inch, 210-pound forward from Constitution High School in Philadelphia, Pa., will enroll at UNLV as a freshman. As a senior this past season, Goodman averaged 26 points and nine rebounds per game, leading his team to the Public League and state titles.
"We are excited about Savon joining our program," Rice said. "He is a winner and brings great energy on every possession. He can guard multiple positions and will be explosive in our transition game. He has a tremendous work ethic and we look forward to his development over the next many seasons."
Goodman was selected as a Parade All-American and was a member of the USA Elite National Team that won the title at the FIBA World Championships in France this past April. Prior to attending Constitution High School, he spent three years at Academy of the New Church Boys School in Bryn Athyn, Pa.
Goodman joins high-school signees Anthony Bennett, Daquan Cook, Demetris Morant and Katin Reinhardt, and transfers Khem Birch, Bryce Dejean-Jones and Roscoe Smith, as Runnin' Rebel newcomers for the 2012-13 season.
