FRESNO, Calif. --- The process of getting better every day is one that Fresno State head men's basketball coach Rodney Terry teaches as a way of life.

After another up-tempo practice, Terry put the Bulldogs through six four-minute scrimmages that split the team into squads of either red or blue.

After the 24 minutes of inter-squad action, the Blue team outscored the Red team 43-35 and won four of the six segments.

"We are a work in progress right now at this point, but there was never a time a year ago that we could have done what we did today in terms of competition wise to get better," Terry said. "So having numbers and having depth is definitely going to help us when it comes time for us to all be on the same team."

Junior Tyler Johnson led all scorers with 14 points in going 5-for-5 from the field, including sinking all three of his 3-point attempts. He also posted a scrimmage-best three steals, dished out a pair of assists and added a block for the blue team. Eight of his 14 points came in the second four-minute span.

Allen Huddleston, who ran the point for the blue squad, scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting to go with three assists and two steals.

Freshman forward Braeden Anderson paced the Red team with 12 points as he also went 5-for-5 from the field and converted both of his free throws. In fact, the Red team swished all 11 of their free throw attempts, including a 4-for-4 mark from freshman Tanner Giddings when he was wearing red.

Giddings, who played for both the red and blue squads, scored a total of 6 points and grabbed five rebounds. Another freshman - point guard Aaron Anderson - tallied seven points on a 3-for-3 day from the floor and registered two steals.

Junior forward Jerry Brown posted nine points and seven rebounds in action split between the teams and senior forward Kevin Foster added eight points and six rebounds. Senior guard Garrett Johnson had six rebounds, including three offensive boards.

"We have had a chance to try to hone in some guys to their roles and what we expect of them," Terry said. "There is accountability about what we are going to get from them in their positions and we are molding that right now every day."

The first chance for fans to get a look at the 2012-13 team will be on Tuesday night, when the Bulldogs host their annual Red & White Hoops Night. The free event will take place at the Save Mart Center and begin at 6:30 p.m. The Red Wave can also listen to live radio coverage on the FM KMJ 105.9 and 940 ESPN (AM) throughout the Valley.

"Tuesday night is a night for the fans," Terry said. "It's an opportunity for them to meet a lot of new faces as we have a lot of new guys."

In addition to six returners from last year's team, the Bulldogs have welcomed nine newcomers to the program. Season tickets are available through the Bulldog Foundation, and start at $149, which is less than $10 per game. To secure your season tickets, you can call the BDF at 559-278-7160 or visit
